Iliniza Sur, the sixth highest summit of Ecuador, is a technically challenging mountain. With its steep ice walls (some are 80 degrees) and many crevasses, it requires technical climbing experience.

Day 1 We leave Riobamba at 8:00 a.m. and drive for 3 ½ hours to the parking place. Then we walk for 4 hours to the refuge at 4650 m. / 15.256 f. On this hike we have to carry our equipment.

Day 2 At 3:00 a.m. we leave the refuge. The ascent takes about 4 - 5 hours. After the descent we have lunch in a restaurant and then drive back to Riobamba. Arrive at about 4:00 p.m.
