climber. You do need to have good physical health, sufficient acclimatization,
and the will to reach the summit. The professional mountain guides
of the Julio Verne climbing team, who all have many years of climbing

ACCLIMATIZATION
Before starting the ascent
of any mountain of over 5000 m. you need to acclimatize. Without
acclimatization there is a serious risk of getting high altitude
sickness. You can diminish this risk if you take your time to
let your body adjust to the high altitude.
Spending about a week in Quito or Riobamba (2850 m.) or making
a trek at 3000 - 4000 m. is an adequate acclimatization for most
people.
If you want to reach the summit of Ecuador's highest mountains
(Chimborazo and Cotopaxi) it is recommended to climb first one
the lower mountains (Ilinizas, Carihuairazo, or Sangay).
If you need advise on your climbing itinerary, please contact
us.
