On this day tour to Chimborazo you can enjoy the beauty of Ecuador’s highest mountain in an active way. You will hike from the first refuge to the second one, reaching an altitude of 5000 m. / 16.405 ft. above sea level. Afterwards you will go downhill by mountain bike.

We leave at 9.00 a.m. from Riobamba. For about 1 hour we drive through the pictoresque landscape of the Andean highlands before we enter the Reserva Faunística Chimborazo.
After crossing El Arenal, a desert-like area where you can observe the vicuañas (a kind of lama), we park the car at 4800 m. / 15.749 ft. altitude, near the first refuge. From here we hike to the Whymper refuge at 5000 m. / 16.405 ft. altitude and get your passport stamped. After the hike we will have a meal with hot coca-tea, and then we will start the downhill mountainbike ride. We'll descend from 4800 m. / 15.749 ft. to 2900 m. / 9.515 ft. altitude, over a distance of 35 km. On the way you can enjoy awesome views of Chimborazo and while you descend, you will see how the landscape changes. Our guide and support vehicle will stay close to you for assistance. Arrival at Riobamba at about 15:30 p.m.
