Amazon Rainforest Tours
The Ecuadorian tropical rainforest holds one of the largest systems of biodiversity in the Amazon jungle and in the world. More than 500 species of birds, 600 species of fish, 250 species of amphibians and reptiles, 200 species of mammals, and many thousands of species of insects live in Amazonian Ecuador. In addition, more than 20.000 known plant and tree species grow in the jungle. However, the number of species is actually higher because the majority of species growing in the Amazon jungle is still unknown to western science.

Ecuador's Amazon ecosystem is composed of approximately 130,000 square kilometers. As the rainforest gradually ascends from the Amazon basin to the high Andes, the ecosystem is continually changing, providing an endless variety of plant and animal habitats. White water rapids, impressive waterfalls and spectacular viewpoints abound in the jungle close to the Andes. Deeper inside the Amazon basin there are flat, flooded forests, with large lagoons containing abundant wildlife.

Our jungle programs vary from short 1- to 3-day treks in the rainforest close to Puyo, to long expeditions in more remote parts of the jungle. One of these expeditions starts with a flight over the rainforest, during which you can enjoy magnificent views of the jungle. Another important means of transport is a dugout canoe where we experience the beauty of the forest while paddling down the river.

On all our trips we take special care with your health and security, providing sufficient pure water, healthy food, and excellent camping equipment. We work with qualified jungle guides who, more than simply taking our small groups to paradise-like sites, inform you of the local fauna and flora and of the indigenous people's culture. Of course we are always concerned about conserving the environment and benefiting the local communities. That's why, in addition, we also work with indigenous guides who are part of this ecosystem.

Our Programs:

Pastaza Jungle Trek (1 - 3 days) The best way to get to know the Amazon rainforest and its inhabitants if you're short on time. We hike in the jungle, go downstream by dugout canoe, and visit indigenous families.

Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve (4 - 8 days) The flooded forest of Cuyabeno is one of the best areas to admire the wildlife of the primary rainforest, and a real paradise for birdwatchers.
