The Ecuadorian highlands offer many excellent trekking routes, which give you the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Andes. We organize hiking tours to enchanting peaks, deep-blue lakes and hot springs in the cloud forest.
Trekking in Ecuador means not only enjoying the nature but also learning about the culture of the country. You will pass remote indigenous communities and visit ancient Incan ruins.
The programs we offer are all altitude trekking (with altitudes ranging between 3000 and 4500 m.), and therefore they are also an excellent way to acclimatize before climbing one of Ecuador's major peaks.
On each trek we hike daily for about 4 - 6 hours and then make a camp to spend the night. We have horses or mules to carry the equipment, so all you need to carry is a day pack. All trekking programs require good physical health.
Inca Trail (3 days) Trek following the ancient Inca trail to Ingapirca, Ecuador's most interesting inca ruins.
Trek El Altar (2 and 3 days) Trekking to the glacial lakes of the Altar area.
El Placer Trek (5 days) A long trek, descending from the paramo highlands to some beautiful hot springs in a mountainous forest. | |
